Learning Notes on the Entire Neck

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to look at any place on the guitar neck and automatically know the note names? Many players are familiar with the notes in the first position and maybe a pentatonic form or two but are often less familiar with notes farther up the neck. For many, knowing all the notes instantaneously on the guitar neck is like the holy grail of guitar knowledge. This lesson provides several proven ways to visualize the guitar neck, as well as four practical exercises to help you learn all of the notes on the guitar neck.

It will help you see the guitar neck as four distinct regions. Seeing the guitar neck in this way will help you begin to categorize your playing in distinct areas of the neck. Also, you’ll practice simple beginning to advanced exercises to learn the neck.

Knowing every note on the guitar neck is not an impossible task. It’s quite attainable with a little bit of thought and some effort, and once you can look at any place on the guitar neck and know the notes, then guitar playing becomes a lot easier. Grab your guitar and let’s have a great lesson. - Steve Krenz
