Summertime Blues

Brandon Trapp is an instructor at MusikWorks Studios in Georgia and lead guitarist of Austin Roberts An 'Em. In this lesson, Brandon demonstrates the great 50’s song, “Summertime Blues," by Eddie Cochran.

Eddie was the epitome of the 50’s rocker. He was a real american rock and roll pioneer, and his rockablilly style captured the teenage angst, frustration, and desire in the 1950’s. Sadly, Eddie’s career was tragically cut short when he died on tour in Britain at the age of 21.

The song was written by Eddie and his manager, Jerry Capehart, in late 1950. It was originally a B-side until it was released as a single in August of '58, and it peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Brandon plays a Gibson USA Midtown Custom in the lesson.

In the 7th grade Brandon got his first real guitar. After learning a few chords he found a 50's and 60's songbook lying around the house. Currently Brandon is a working musician and a guitar teacher at MusikWorks Studios in Rome, GA and is a regular contributor to Gibson.com.
