Once you’ve created a class in GMA, you can assign an activity to your class easily! This method allows you to make sure that only students of your existing classes will gain access to your activity, and their work will be recorded and sorted based on the class roster.
You may choose to assign one of the various math activities designed by the GMA team and community, or one of your very own.
To assign an activity to your class, first locate the activity you want. First click on “Activity Bank” in the left tab. Then you can quickly find an activity using the “Search” function under the Explore tab (for the community) or under the “My Activities” tab. Once you’ve located the desired activity, click on the “Make Session” button on the right hand side.
A “New Student Session” pop-up screen will appear, where you can also edit the name of your session (If you are assigning one activity to several classes, renaming the session to make it unique to a specific class might be very helpful!)
Select the “Assign to specific class” option. A drop-down menu will show a list of classes that you’ve created. Select the class you would like to assign the activity to, then click “Create Session”.
You will then be forwarded to the activity session. On the left-hand tab, you will find:
The “session code” students can use to access the activity session,
The class the activity is assigned to,
The activity session link that you can share with your students via email, Slack message, Google Classroom, etc.,
Students who have joined the session.
You have now successfully assigned an activity to your class! To join your session, your students will need their student code, which can be found on the roster on that class’ dashboard (click “Classes” in the left menu).
Students’ work on a session is automatically saved, and they can return to their work whenever they want.
