If you have a fixed class, or a list of students whom you are planning on assigning several GMA activities to, you will benefit from creating a class function on GMA!
To create a class, you can either import a class roster or enter your students’ names manually. GMA will then generate unique ID numbers for each of your students, which they will use to log into GMA. Then you can easily assign activities to your GMA class, and your students’ work will be saved under their class and sorted based on their information.
Locate the “Classes” tab on the left, then click on the “+ ADD CLASS” button on the top right to create a new class.
A pop-up screen will appear, where you can enter your class name. Once you’re ready, click “Create”, and you will automatically be taken to a new page where your new class is created.
There are 2 ways to add students to the class. The first way is to import students’ information from a class roster.
Click on the “Import” button next to your class’ name. A pop-up screen for importing roster will appear.
Prepare your class roster on a spreadsheet or any kind of workbook. Then select all cells with student names and copy (Ctrl+C / Cmd+C). Then go back to the pop-up screen on GMA and paste (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V) the names of your students into the grey text box on the pop-up screen on GMA.
The system in GMA will automatically detect students’ names to be imported. Please note that in GMA, students’ last names are cut to one letter to protect their privacy (e.g., Smith -> S.).
If multiple students share the same first letter for their last names, the roster will automatically sort them in alphabetical order based on their first name.
When you’ve confirmed that all students’ information is correct, click the “Add New” button. Your students’ information is successfully imported to your new class.
Once you’ve created a class, you can also add more students by using either of these two methods. To remove students from a class, click on the 3 dots symbol next to their name, and select “Delete student”.
Click on the “Add One Student” box, and type in an individual student’s name. Click on the “+” sign or click “Enter” on your keyboard when you’re done. Repeat until you have entered all of your students’ names.
