Recruiting

Soldiers are recruited in your barracks at any castle. You unlock more powerful units as you upgrade the level of your barracks and research units in the research tower. Troops cost coin to produce and food to keep them housed. If you run out of food, troops will desert until you have a stable number again. If your food consumption isn’t slightly into the red, always be recruiting. If you’re preparing for a big defensive battle or offensive strike, you can run much farther into the red because the loss of troops in the battle will cut your numbers down to stable again. You can recruit units in one castle and send them to another as well so that all of your castles can always be contributing.

Your troop recruitment speed is a vital aspect of gathering units. At higher levels, you need armies of at least 1,000 and when you can only recruit a total of 40 units without enhancements in green, it takes a long time. A few options available for speeding this process up are…

• Unlock extra recruitment slots by upgrading to premium or renting slots
• Research Maneuver (Ruby free)
• Hold feasts (Ruby Free)
• Build drill grounds
• Increase your public order
• Click on the +1 icon when recruiting
• Use the mercenary post next to your castle

If you can pump out armies faster than an enemy can kill them, you will assuredly win any conflict.

* Try to recruit more range soldiers on offense and melee soldiers on defense because these troops will often be lost in higher numbers.
