DEFENSE!

Defensive Set Up

Like most players, our defensive set up is the 100 - 0 - 0. This defensive set up is meant to maximize chances of success on defense while you’re offline. Generally, the key to a defensive is winning as many flanks as possible with the limited amount of troops you have to put on the wall.

Offline tool and troop arrangements are heavily disputed by many players. Personally, I go with a 70% melee, 30% range troop ratio with 3 sets of range tools, and 1 set of wall tools with moat tools. You should ask an experienced player for advice on your offline setup based on your level (determines how strong your wall is = how many tools you can put on the wall) and how strong your cast is.

When soldiers fight on the wall they go against their similar type (Range Vs Range / Melee Vs Melee) which is good for defense. When soldiers fight in the keep, they go against their opposite type (Range Vs Melee / Melee Vs Range) which is bad for defense.

Since defending all flanks while you’re offline spreads your troops thin with no chance of adjustment, it is best to stock all troops on either the right or left flank. This way, you have the best possible number of troops on one flank and the best chance of winning that flank. We don’t cover the middle because they can send more troops and tools to the middle, it’s simply harder to defend.

You want to try and prevent them from winning all the flanks because it ensures they don’t have a bonus in the keep. The number of flanks broken affects your defense power and the attackers power as well. It breaks down like this.

Defensively

1 flank - No bonus

2 flanks - Subtract 30% reduction of attacker’s combat power in the keep

3 flanks - No battle in the keep, automatic win

Offensively

1 flank - Subtract 30% of your combat power in the keep

2 flanks - No bonus

3 flanks - Add 30% to your combat power in the keep
