🎯Prepares you to write an essay where you describe the culture wars
The semi-academic blog The Culture Wars invites essay contributions about cultural change and conflict. It’s known for publishing well-researched essays that blend personal insight with historical and current events. You have been invited to write an essay competition and the best contribution will be published on their website.
Your aim is to present various perspectives to help readers understand the culture wars. To support your, you will be able to bring notes (200 words) with you to the essay. These notes should include ideas, claims, statements, examples or arguments from sources that you wish to discuss in your essay. For example:
To what extent have concepts like "wokeism" and "cancel culture" enhanced or stifled productive debate on societal issues, such as cultural appropriation?
Discuss the argument that these movements enforce accountability (pro-woke/cancel) and the counter-argument that they represent censorship (anti-woke/cancel).
