Rabanne x H&M
Rabanne x H&M
H&M is a very popular brand that often collabs with other brands. The most recent, notable collab is with Mugler. I think that it showed how H&M can be more "high-fashion" if it wanted to be, as things like their coats are supposedly really nice.
Their newest collection will be with a Spanish brand called Rabanne. Created by Francisco Rabaneda Cuervo (1934-2023) in 1966, he was known for creating fashions out of unconventional items such as paper or metal. His designs were often flamboyant and seen as futuristic. He's also known for creating something called the 'Iconic Green Dress.' I'm pretty sure the image of the green dress below is what that is, it's very unclear. But it is one of the main dresses I saw when I looked it up.
Looking at his designs, I think this could look really with collabing with H&M. I think H&M as the brand it is could do this collab because they have many target audiences within them, mostly being juniors and womenswear. They also clearly have an audience for the higher priced items, as they just did a collab with Mugler. Mugler also has some really cute stuff but that's for a later entry.
However, the announcement was made at Paris Fashion Week not too long ago. Stars like Cher and Elle Fanning made appearances in pieces that were part of the collection. From the few images that I've seen, I think I'd like this collection a lot. But we'd have to see on November 9th because that's when it's coming out. Just in time for Christmas shopping.
Julian Dossena is the creative director of Rabanne after Cuervo retired in 1999. He's stayed true to the futuristic aesthetic, as you can see in the images below. “As a designer, I’ve always been interested in exploring hedonism and empowerment. I was very enthusiastic to work with H&M on a collection that will introduce Rabanne’s avant-garde energy to a wider audience in a democratic way."- Dossena. It'll also be H&M's first designer collaboration to have a homeware line as well, which I also can't wait for. I like looking at things like vases and cups because I feel like you can do so much to them in terms of design. Will I buy something from this collab? Probably not, as I most likely will not have the funds for it, unfortunately. However, if I remember this collab in like a month, I'll do another entry on it for the full collection.
