Barbie in Roblox

As someone who used to play with dolls and Roblox all the time, I thought this was intriguing. Until the Barbie movie, I never thought there would be this many things with her name on them. I mean, there was already a Barbie x Forever21 collab happening for the last couple of years. I just didn't expect it to be this widespread. I ESPECIALLY didn't think it would be going on this long. Like it's basically fall and the Barbie craze is still going on.
Mattel apparently has decided to expand their money maker, Barbara Millicent Roberts, to the Roblox universe. The game Roblox introduced is called Barbie DreamHouse Tycoon. I used to love the tycoon games. I played them with my sister all the time and we used to make so much money in them. But in this game, you'd be building your ultimate dream house, as well as customizing your avatar.
I like the customizing your avatar part within the game because I used to play Royale High a lot and I would love to customize my character. If I still had my login information to Roblox I'd definitely see how this game looks. “This is the perfect time to bring Barbie’s world to millions of existing and soon-to-be fans on Roblox.”- Ricardo Briceno, Chief Business Officer at Gamefam. He also noted that Barbie's brand's current resonance makes the tycoon game more meaningful.
But I'm surprised at how long this Barbie thing's been going on. Well, I am, but I'm not. I am because I assumed that this was going to be like a fad that all the brands would quickly get on, then get off as fast. I'm not surprised though because Barbie is Barbie, right? Like she's a timeless person who will always adapt to the world's issues. And companies will milk a collab for as long as they can. Barbie's profitable so I guess I understand. But I feel like there's an issue if it's 2024 and companies are still trying to promote their Barbie Movie collection.
