Open Snipping Tool on your computer. Make sure your Revit window is already open and ready to go.
In Snipping Tool, click on "Record" and then "New" to start a screen recording.
When prompted, drag to select the entire Revit screen (not just a portion). This ensures everything you're demonstrating is visible.
Begin your demonstration — walk through the Revit workflow, action, or process you want to teach. Work slowly and clearly so it's easy to follow visually.
Once you’re done, click Stop on the recording. The video will process, and you’ll be prompted to save it. Choose a clear name (like WallTagWorkflow_Tutorial.mp4) and save it in a folder you’ll remember.
Open a text editor like Notepad, Word, or Google Docs.
Watch your recorded video, and write out what you would say if you were explaining the process to a coworker step-by-step.
Think about what’s on the screen and describe it in simple, professional, and clear language.
For example:
"Click on the Annotate tab, then choose Tag by Category. Select the wall you want to tag. This will place a tag according to the loaded tag family."
Keep your tone consistent with other training materials. Use complete sentences and avoid jargon unless it’s necessary and well-understood by your team.
Go to Eleven Labs (click text for link)
Paste your script into the text box.
Review your text and check for any names, technical terms, or brand-specific words (like “Revit,” or “BIM”) that Eleven Labs might mispronounce.
Adjust those words using phonetic spelling to improve pronunciation.
Example:
"Revit" → "Rev-it"
"BIM" → "B-I-M"
Select a professional-sounding voice that fits your office’s tone. Stick to this voice for all future videos to maintain consistency.
If you’re using the free version, you will hit a 1000 character limit. In that case:
Break your script into chunks (try to keep sentences grouped logically).
Paste each chunk separately and download each audio file.
If you plan to make a lot of videos, consider upgrading to Eleven Labs’ paid version to avoid splitting the audio repeatedly.
Download all your audio clips, and give them clear filenames like 01_Intro.mp3, 02_Tagging.mp3, etc., so you can keep them in order.
Open a video editor like Shotcut (free) or Camtasia (paid).
Import both your:
Snipping Tool video
Audio files from Eleven Labs
Place the video on the timeline first.
Now drag in each audio file and:
Line up each clip with the matching part of the video.
Cut, trim, and shift the video as needed to match the voiceover precisely.
Zoom in on the timeline for precision syncing.
Watch the full video several times and fine-tune any awkward gaps, overlaps, or mismatches.
Once the video and audio are perfectly synced:
Add a title screen or intro graphic if needed.
Add captions or annotations if you want to highlight key clicks or steps visually.
Export the final video using a common format like MP4 with high-quality settings.
Give the final file a clear name, e.g., HowTo_TagWallsInRevit.mp4.
Upload the video to the Forum Design Technology website.
