How to access files on ACC, upload and download them
Preferred method of file sharing on ACC is Live Linking, email or transmittal notification of updates/ phases
Do Not create, delete or edit existing folders
All under a Forum contract are in the "Design Team" folder, sharing files freely. Any model can be opened by anyone with the following considerations.
Never edit a Revit file that your company is not the responsible author of.
In the event, an edit or problem happens while in the file, please email the Forum BIM Manager immediately.
"Partners" folder is for anyone not under a Forum contract.
Review the standards here - Naming
Permissions are given by the Company to a folder, not by an individual.
Unless otherwise stated all Forum employees get "View + Download + Upload + Edit" to Project Files
Consultants will have "View + Download + Upload + Edit" to Partners > Their folder and "View + Download" permissions to Design Team or other Partners folder.
It is recommended to Publish before and after large changes as a means of additional Backup.
A Set is to be created and shared for every Milestone.
Additional publishing is welcome as desired.
Publishing for a milestone SET
Publish only the desired sheets + an all-inclusive 3D view to the properly dated Plans folder as directed.
Publishing for Daily backups and the default.
All files are to have a Publish setting Set named "0_All", Reference: Exports/ Publish
All models are required to maintain a publish settings set named "0_ALL". This should be set such that it is the set used for the weekly automatic publish. This set will Include
All Views and Sheets in Model
Select All
Publish settings should be updated regularly as new content is added, Select All will need to be reapplied in order to capture all the new content as it is created.
Always Publish All. Generally no one Revit model can be restored without the matching time relevant snapshot of all linked models. For this reason we ask that if publishing manually, publish all.
ACC Transmittals are to be used to notify team members of updated files.
Access is available to anyone in the project to see all Transmittals they are copied on (Only). Project leads and studio directors can see all. Go to https://acc.autodesk.com sign in and locate your project > select Docs > select Transmittals.
The duration of the outage doesn’t have any bearing on the behavior of either Revit or Personal Accelerator (PAC).
PAC will continue to attempt to sync on a regular interval, and each time it attempts to do so, it will encounter an exception and skip that model (moving on to the next one in the queue). This will happen under the hood and you should not see any error dialogs.
For Revit, the intended behavior will let you continue to work with elements already in your ownership, but it will not let you do anything that requires a change in permissions state, as that would cause the local copy to become potentially incompatible with the central. For this and a few other operations, you may experience delays in the operation while it tries to connect to the services but the operation will eventually succeed when service is restored. You should also be able to save locally, although Revit may show some warnings before ultimately succeeding,
Locals file was OPEN BEFORE the outage and still open:
Be sure to coordinate with your team as to never touch the same elements in the model from different computers as this will put your work at risk of not being able to sync when all is back up. Once the system is back up, sync.
If you are the only person working on a BIM360 file
You are safe to open your local file and continue working. Once the system is back up, sync.
If you did not have the file open before the outage
Best advice is to wait till the system is back up. If you must open continue working, be sure to coordinate with your team as to never touch the same elements in the model from different computers as this will put your work at risk of not being able to sync when all is back up. Once the system is back up, sync.
Note: working offline comes with some level of risk that file may become incompatible when multiple people perform work offline and try to sync once the system comes back up. This is often due to the editing of the same elements from multiple computers while offline. Coordinate with team members to clearly distinguish who will be working on what careful to avoid the same elements in the model.
If you want answers as to when the system is down or up. You should be subscribed to https://health.autodesk.com/
If we are down for an extended period we will begin to re-establish local work-sharing on our servers and at an appropriate time move the updated files back to BIM360.
Archiving or backing up your project is done a number of ways. It is important to note that a Milestone backup must be a full copy of all Revit and Autocad files at the time of the Archive as many files are dependant on links and other files.
Forum has automated non ACC backup of files to a local storage location.
Files published are also archives and backups.
You may also Download the entire directory from ACC for DesignTeam and Partners into a Zip and then place the .zip file into the DesignTeam Archive directory for safe keeping.
Forum is advancing our design technology & goals. We aim to coordinate & deliver Building Information Models that accurately represent the building in question. To do this, Forum is adopting & using workflows, tools, & consulting partners that align with our goals.
Forum is using Autodesk Construction Cloud as the primary method for hosting Revit, AutoCAD, and digitally printed project files. This allows team members access to approved content at all times. In addition, this will effectively eliminate all unnecessary file-sharing practices.
Autodesk Construction Cloud tools are being adopted, including Markups, Issues, Transmittals, Coordination, Compare, and Viewer. Each tool in ACC will be communicated as to the timeline of its use, and aid will be provided in supporting our partners' use of these tools.
When answering a Forum RFP verbally or contractually in writing, it should be assumed that every consulting partner will maintain their own licensing of Autodesk Construction Cloud to support the project's requirements properly. Service providers, including but not limited to Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing awarded, will be required to have BIM Collaborate Pro licensing in their company's name for all required employees serving the awarded project for its duration unless expressly excluded herein.
Real-time collaboration for Forum and its partners does not mean frivolous changes to design or timelines. On the contrary, there will remain a time when no additional architectural modification will be made before any deliverable date. During this period, consultants will have time to review architectural updates and provide the required service. Forum will also continue to communicate the status of projects with our partners as we always have. Additionally, we are investigating new passive and active ways to share production-level information about projects in Microsoft Teams to assist in navigating real-time collaboration with Forum.
Forum is committed to improving our relationships with consulting partners. Therefore, we are asking you to offer suggestions that may aid in the elimination of wasteful practices or improved workflows.
