Meet the Design Technology Team at Forum. We will review our BIM consultant coordination together.
Forum is currently relaxed related to its approach to the use of BIM. We have only a few requirements. These requirements are listed on this page as links to information found throughout our website. Please review the below sections for more information. You may also watch the above video where we will review it together.
Get/Send files in Cloud Page - (Forum Revit / Consultant AutoCAD Process)
Coming Soon! - (Forum Revit / Consultant Revit Process)
All consultant files are to be placed in the Design Team folder (no subfolders) File naming will do the sorting. More info on the ACC page.
Shared Coordinates are not currently used in Revit By Forum. We ask consultants to link our building models in and use the locations they are in without moving them as a basis for where to model their content.
We currently do not require consultants to name their files a particular way if they are not sharing files in ACC (AutoCAD). However, Revit files in ACC must be named as similar as possible to the naming syntax outlined in the Naming Page Link
Please ask your Forum point of contact to confirm how your project numbering will be done. You may review the link for general guidance.
Worksets are encouraged and required to the extent that they allow for the functional use of one's model by others. The link provided outlines the Fourm recommended worksets that are not enforced internally to Forum.
Forum internally does not have a standard for how to consistently manage Revisions. The linked page is our recommendation.
Shared Parameters may be uploaded to the ACC Design Team Folder but must be named, CompanyName_SharedParameters.txt
Files to be Civil3D.dwg file format
Autodesk Desktop Connector is required
Shared Reference Point Add-In for Autodesk Civil 3D and Revit is required
Civil to upload to ACC "00000.00 - ProjectName/Project Files/Partners/Civil"
Civil to supply a finished grade "PNEZD.csv" 3D "TIN", or LandXML file when available.
Civil to supply XML "MySharedRefPt.XML" into the ACC Partners Civil folder (no subfolders)
Coordination / Clash Page Link
Forum currently only does manual BlueBeam coordination with PDFs and does not use these features of ACC yet.
Hello, Forum consulting partner,
Forum would like to make you, as a partner in design, aware that we are in the process of adopting the software Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and pursuing BIM. We believe this will provide value internally to our consulting partners and the client. We are prepared to collaborate with you on achieving a successful transition to BIM long-term. In addition, Forum is committed to improving our relationships with consulting partners. Therefore, we ask you to offer suggestions that may aid in eliminating wasteful practices or improved workflows.
We require the following bullet points when answering all Forum RFP verbally or contractually in writing unless otherwise explicitly stated.
Consulting partners must use Autodesk, the latest version of Revit, as of June 1 of each year anytime Revit is used on projects post receiving this letter.
Consulting partners must use Autodesk Construction Cloud as the primary method for hosting All Revit, AutoCAD, and digitally printed project files (PDFs). Autodesk Desktop Connector is also required. This allows team members access to approved content at all times. In addition, this will effectively eliminate all unnecessary file-sharing practices. Consulting partners must have BIM Collaborate Pro entitlements in their company's name for all required employees serving the awarded project for its duration.
Consulting partners must use Live linking in Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). AutoCAD and Revit files must be continuously stored and edited from ACC Docs. Real-time collaboration for Forum and its consulting partners does not mean frivolous changes to design or timelines. On the contrary, there will remain a time when no additional architectural modification will be made before any deliverable date. During this period, consultants will have time to review architectural updates and provide the required service. Forum will also continue to communicate the status of projects with our partners as we always have.
Consulting partners under contract by Forum Architecture in all projects performed must maintain a workshared live link Revit 2023 project file that includes, at a minimum, Revit Sheets with all accurate information, including Sheet number, Sheet name, and revision data. This data must be placed in a Revit shared parameter pulled from the Forum-provided shared parameter file in ACC Docs. This file will be continuously maintained in Autodesk Construction Cloud Docs and uploaded via Revit.
