Our readings this week from Isaiah 15-33 reveal God's sovereignty in judgment and redemption. The prophet denounces sinful nations, highlighting humanity's rebellion and need for divine justice. Amidst warnings of impending doom, there is a promise of a remnant chosen by God for salvation, evidence of God's elective grace. These chapters underscore God's faithfulness, even in the face of human unfaithfulness, and the ultimate fulfillment of His redemptive plan through the promised Messiah. Major themes of these chapters include a narrative of divine control over history, the assurance of a faithful remnant, and the unfolding of God's sovereign purposes.

From How to Read the Bible through the Jesus Lens, Michael Williams makes these points about Isaiah:
Phrase: Divine Presence
Theme: The Holy One of Israel challenges his people to respond appropriately to his presence among them.
Christ-Focus: Jesus is Immanuel, God's presence with us (Matthew 1:23).
Implications: The Spirit of Christ is present within us and enables us to respond to our King with grateful service (Hebrews 9:14).
Questions: Do our lives of service to God challenge people around us with his presence? Is God served and are people spiritually challenged by your Facebook page?
