Leviticus 15–27 continues God’s call for His people to live as holy and set apart. Chapters 15–20 deal with purity, moral laws, and right relationships—showing that holiness touches every part of life, from worship to sexuality to justice. Chapters 21–22 set high standards for priests, pointing to Christ as the flawless High Priest. Chapters 23–25 describe Israel’s sacred festivals and the Sabbath and Jubilee years, reminding God’s people that time and land belong to Him. Chapters 26–27 close with blessings for obedience and warnings for disobedience, followed by vows and offerings to God.
These chapters reveal God’s covenant structure of grace and obedience. Holiness is not a human achievement but a response to God’s redeeming work. The Sabbath and Jubilee foreshadow spiritual rest and freedom in Christ, who fulfills God’s law and restores creation, reminding believers that their lives are fully devoted to Him.
We enter into our rhythm of LEARN, READ, INTERACT.
From How to Read the Bible through the Jesus Lens, Michael Williams makes these points about Leviticus:
Phrase: Life in God's presence
Theme: God instructs his people how to live in his presence.
Christ-Focus: The holiness of Christ admits us into God's holy presence (Hebrews 7:27).
Implications: We must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as we live in God's presence (2 Peter 3:11-18).
Questions: Are you cultivating a life of holiness? What does such a life look like today?
