My 100th design! I wanted to do something special for this one and, since my Leshen and Ent have been my two favorite designs so far, I knew I wanted it to be a fantasy creature. Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson is my favorite book I've ever read (his entire Stormlight Archive series is amazing) and the Whitespine is a creature from that series - like most of the wildlife in that world, it is a crustacean. One of the characters from the books is an artist and draws some of the things she comes across, so the photo below that I based my design on is the official one from the book. In that photo, you can see that this creature is about the size of a lion. It's spine, as well as the spikes along it, are supposed to be white (hence the name), but I decided against adding a color change to what was already the most complex and difficult design I have made up until now - I began the process of creating the crease pattern almost exactly one year ago.
