I wanted to fold something simple for a change and had an idea to make a katana from a birdbase by thinning the rabbit ears to eighths with open sinks, color changing one of the large flaps for the blade (I haven't used tissue-foil in a really long time, but it was the obvious choice for this design), then weaving the other 3 long flaps together for the hand guard. I was worried about curving the blade without creasing it with crimps and was pleasantly surprised when applying pressure to the spine of the blade and flattening it a little gave it just enough of a subtle curve without creasing the smooth blade.
Design date: January, 2015
Paper used: A single un-cut square of tissue-foil.
