Aim: This task asks you to apply what you have learned in this module to your own online teaching context.
Time: 30 – 45 minutes, approximately
In this final reflection task, you are going to look back at the lesson scripts you've seen in this Module, and the tips and techniques that have been shared in the various tasks. You are then going to write and trial a short task for a WA live lesson.
You will need to follow these steps:
As you review the tasks from the module, make notes on any tips or examples you'd like to use in your mini WA live lesson.
Choose a simple task from the materials you use with your students and which is suitable for teaching in a WA class.
Write a detailed script for the task.
Teach from your script. If you don’t have a a class of learners you can use the script with, try it with your colleagues in your WA mini-groups.
Write a brief report on your experience of writing and teaching your own mini WA live lesson.
Share your report in the WhatsApp group - via text or a VoiceNote!
In Module 1, we asked you to reflect on the skills you need as an online teacher, and to consider how confident you felt with each. We invite you to consider how confident you feel about teaching your learners online now, after taking this course.
As you did in Module 1, if you are using a computer, please follow these steps to complete the Digital Quiz:
Download and save the Word version of the Digital Quiz (below) to your computer.
Complete the Digital Quiz by typing your score into each box. The total score will appear automatically at the bottom of the document.
Save the document with your answers. Change the file name of the document by typing your full name (name and surname). Replace 'ADD YOUR NAME HERE' with your own full name, in the file name.
Email the document to your COELT trainer as an attachment.

Note down your score for each Quiz item on a piece of paper. Add up your total Quiz score and note it down.
Email your total score to your trainer.
You can compare your total score on the Quiz with the Answer Key below. You may well have improved your score from Module 1!
Note: This is a compulsory task. To successfully pass the COELT course, you must complete the Digital Quiz again, and email your completed Word document / total Digital Quiz score to your trainer, as your final task.
On this course, you have tapped into the digital confidence and skills you already possessed to build your online teaching skills. We hope this course has served to develop a community of practice, allowed you to share ideas, support each other, and share resources.
You’ve now got enough digital confidence to come to grips with new devices, apps and platforms. You may not be a totally expert tech user yet, but you are an expert teacher. This is way more important! Don’t confuse technology with teaching. The goal is to use technology to facilitate engaging and effective teaching and learning. We hope this course has empowered you to feel confident about teaching online and that your digital competence will continue to improve with practice.
Focus on the key skills and apps for your learners and build it up from there. Remember you can always reach out to your online colleagues for support and continue your training in online teaching!
