Aim: This task asks you to apply what you have learned in this module to your own online teaching context.
Time: 30 – 45 minutes, approximately
Here we ask you to reflect on what you have learned in this fourth module and how you could apply this to your teaching context. Look at the questions below and make notes on your reflections. You could keep your notes in a written, audio or video ‘learning diary’ to refer to during - and after! - the course.
Which of the strategies you have looked at in this module do you think you could use for promoting effective collaborative learning with your learners? Look at an upcoming lesson in your workbook/coursebook, and consider which activities would lend themselves well to online collaborative learning. How exactly would you set up collaborative learning among your learners for these activities? Review the strategies and suggestions in this unit and choose the online collaborative learning strategies or ideas you think would work best.
How can some of the principles of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) be applied to online learning for your learners in your specific context? Look again at an upcoming lesson in your workbook/coursebook, decide which activities you could do with your learners online/asynchronously, and consider how principles of UDL could be incorporated into your chosen online activities.
How can positive framing enhance your learners’ motivation to learn and be successful? To what extent can increased positive framing inform and shape your teaching?
Choose one strategy you have used successfully to promote collaborative learning in your learners in your F2F teaching. Explain how you would use it for promoting collaborative online learning.
OR
Give one example of positive framing that you have used – or plan to use – with your own learners.
