In this task, we examine strategies for synchronous online teaching that you can implement in your WhatsApp live lessons and video conferencing sessions. These strategies will help ensure that your live (synchronous) online lessons are effective and that your learners are supported throughout the lesson.

Part One: Do's and Don'ts

The WhatsApp live lessons and video conferencing sessions you have participated in so far on this course were designed around some online teaching strategies. Effective online teaching strategies include planning well-structured lessons, promoting learner engagement, consistency in the use of terminology and visual aids (e.g. Workbook sections and emojis), effective online classroom management, and monitoring of learner performance. Read some Do's and Don’ts for teaching live online, summarising many of these strategies, in the slideshow below.
