Aim: This task invites you to think about the basic principles of designing and planning live online lessons .
Time: 20 - 30 minutes, approximately
As you saw in Task 2.2, we suggest that WhatsApp live lessons follow a clear structure. Remember the WhatsApp live lesson you participated in during Module 1? Can you remember the stages? Drag the names of the 9 stages in a typical WhatsApp live lesson into the correct order from left to right. Here's a clue: the first stage is 'Call to action'!
When carrying out live lessons via video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Teams, Google Meet and the like, you can follow the same lesson structure. The stages proposed above reflect the same pedagogical principles, whether you use WhatsApp or video conferencing for live online lessons. Let’s now look at the structure and the pedagogical principles behind each of the nine stages above.
You can use these nine stages to plan your own live lessons in WA and/or VC. These stages can be used to plan lessons for primary and secondary learners, and for whatever language or subject you teach. You may not want to use all of these stages in every single lesson, but you will definitely use some of them. Most importantly, you will know why you are using each stage!
