Aim: This task encourages you to reflect on how to give feedback effectively online
Time: 20 – 30 minutes, approximately
Thornbury (2017) defines feedback as ‘the information, either immediate or delayed, that learners get on their performance’. As we have seen in this module, feedback is an important part of assessment. It is crucial that we as teachers give our learners regular feedback on their work, to support their learning and progress. With this in mind, what are the characteristics of effective feedback? How do we ensure that the feedback we give our learners online is as effective as possible? We explore how to give effective feedback in this task.
