Aim: This task invites you to reflect on the importance of the home-school connection and examines ways to involve parents/guardians in their children’s learning
Time: 20 – 30 minutes, approximately
Communicating with parents/guardians can support and even improve a child’s learning. It gives parents/guardians and children a reason to talk about school, and an opportunity for teachers to hear from parents about their children. Research clearly shows that the stronger the home-school connection, the more likely children are to do well at school. In this activity, we explore different ways of involving and communicating with parents/guardians to help them support their children’s learning.

When parents/guardians feel that they have a clear awareness of their role in their child’s learning and are a part of the learning progress, strong partnerships with teachers can occur. A strong home-school connection benefits everyone: parents/guardians, teachers, and - most importantly - the learners themselves
