My Atari

My Atari(s)

The first Atari I owned outright was an Atari 800XL which my parents bought circa 1986, this was post a handed down Atari Pong which really was a family games machine.  I sold the Atari 800XL to help my parents fund the Atari ST, which was purchased as a Christmas present in 1988.  Since then, I have kept that Atari ST and collected a few things along the way.

Kudos to those that collect all things labelled Atari, however I tend to collect those machines and peripherals I find not only interesting, but importantly 'of use'.  I like to use all of my Ataris, and Atari related peripherals / software.  I try not to collect to simply store items away, so I tend to shy away from collecting numerous Atari computers, or collecting items which I don't have use for.  This then is my small but cherished 'not for sale' Atari collection.  I appreciate there are people that do like to collect such items, so If any item does become for sale I will make it known, and will therefore not respond to any potential requests.  Likewise, software I have shared is on the Downloads page.  I am merely attempting to mitigate the potential of this, so please be respectful!

Atari Collection

Computers

My Atari STFM, a computer I have had since Christmas of 1988 which has transitioned from a games machine, a study machine, and subsequently a music and MIDI machine.  It has never been stored, and is now refurbished and upgraded with 4MB of MMU RAM switchable between 1MB and 4MB, Exxos v2.2 Booster switchable between 8MHz and 16MHz, Dual "Fast" TOS switchable between TOS 1.04 and TOS 2.06, Funky BLiTTER and OverScan ST graphics extension board.  I also have a spare STFM which I may similarly refurbish but keep stock.  Ironically this is the machine I have spent most money on over the years, with my Atari computers costing less the higher end they get.

My Atari Falcon, relatively stock with an internal IDE to dual CF drive, 68882 FPU and 14MB of RAM.  It is a machine I always coveted, and managed to obtain in 2012 for a paltry sum.  This will get upgraded in time with my CT60e, but my thought process ever changes with the Falcon, so this is very much a wait and see situation.

My Medusa Hades 060 acquired in 2022 from a gentleman in the UK who used to tour this machine at events.  It was originally purchased in '96 from System Solutions in the UK, and is one of only two sold by them.  Technically the Hades itself was given to me, but to recompense this individual I purchased the beautiful Iiyama Vision Master CRT monitor and a Roland SC88.  This Hades now sports Compact Flash running off of the IDE bus, 512MB of RAM, and a choice of an ET4000 or MACH64 graphics card, as well as an ES1371 PCI sound card, an RTL8029 PCI based Ethernet card, and the ROPO-COP ROM port expander ISA card.

Consoles

My Atari Jaguar purchased circa 2005, again for little money.  I have slowly collected some interesting peripherals and games along the way, but only titles which interest me.  Like all of my collection, I do not collect for collection sake in the main.

My Atari VCS 800 Onyx Edition purchased and backed from the somewhat infamous Indiegogo campaign, and received in 2021.  I do have plans to upgrade this sooner or later, with more RAM and an internal SSD.

The uncommon Lynett Systems Lynex 16-bit sampler for the ST.  Not pictured is the cartridge port interface whch connects the Lynex to the ST.  The Lynex came from the U.S. from an interesting guy who acquired it for free from Lynett Systems when new, potentially from Michael Lynch, and used it for sound design in theatre productions, beginning with Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Lynex internals, showing this has 1 MB of its own internal memory.

Designed by D2D Systems, the equally rare Plasmec Systems ADAS-ST 16-bit audio D2D recorder for the ST.  This ADAS was acquired from Germany, when purchased the previous owner stated 'it is good to see the ADAS is going home', on account of it being British.
