Digital Impact

Digital Impact by Arobace is a French sampler and sample editor released in 1991.  It can handle both 8-bit and 16-bit samples, and can accommodate many of the sampling ADC and DAC cartridges of the time.  For example with regards to DAC output, it can utilise Replay, Playback, and the 12-bit capable Replay Professional and MV16 cartridges.  For sampling, it is suited to both Replay and Master Sound ADC cartridges.  On face value Digital Impact is able to create 16-bit samples, memory permitting, and now supports SMP, SPL, AVR, Master Sound, STOS Maestro, IFF, AIFF, SoundWorks and Avalon file formats.  It comes with an array of effects such as Reverb, Echo, Envelope and Filter effects amongst others, as well as the ability to convert between signed and unsigned samples, and between 8 and 16-bits.  The author known as SMY, has graciously released an updated Freeware but Pro version 30 years later, which can be found here
