Lynex

The Lynex was released in 1988 by Lynett Systems Ltd formed by British entrepreneur Michael Lynch. Again it is another sampler which has been claimed as the first sampler for the Atari TOS range. Although not true, it was certainly one of the few 16-bit stereo "professional" samplers for the range, and the only one to utilise its own RAM. The Lynex is an external DSP, in fact it contains 2 DSPs, which interfaces with your Atari via the cartridge port, allowing for a sample frequency of up to 50 kHz. The unit itself comprises of 8 outputs by way of 1/4" jacks, as well as 2 inputs, and an expansion bus for another Lynex or anticipated racked memory expansion units. The software runs as an ACC, allowing editing of your samples, as well as MIDI assignment, beautifully incorporating its own digital mixer. Arguably the Fairlight CMI for the Atari range.
