What have you learnt about yourself as a collaborative problem-solver? Which are your strengths and development areas?
Through this course's collaboration, I have learnt that I can take a leading role in a collaboration quite effectively, while the socio-emotional climate within the group allows it. I observed that I can structure my thinking well and articulate the problem we face as a group as well as the step-by-step process we need to follow to get to the next stage. I can see the problem through many angles and formulate questions that arise. I observed that I also engage in productive dialogue with the other members of the group, meaning that I challenge their ideas, try to push our thinking further and maintain a logical flow in the solution.
I believe an area of development is my overall consistency and my strategies when dealing with socio-emotional conflicts. Specifically in this experience I observed that while I had a good level of consistency for most of the groupwork, after some socio-emotional issues arised such as lack of trust within the group, I became more and more disengaged from the problem because I was unable to handle them.
