An International Conference hosted by CERLIS
University of Bergamo, Italy
(21-23 June 2018)
Online access marks a major turning point in the history of academic communication. On the one hand, academics tend to maximize their online presence and, on the other, they can take full advantage of digital media to search for specialized content. The communicative immediacy of the new medium, the opportunity to engage with wider audiences, and the spectrum of genres/hybridized forms made available by online platforms, are all factors influencing the way scholars codify knowledge which can be easily located, comprehended and assimilated by disciplinary communities. This international conference investigates how and to what extent digital technologies have impacted the language of scholars for knowledge dissemination (KD). The conference contributes to the national research programme ‘Knowledge dissemination across media in English: continuity and change in discourse strategies, ideologies, and epistemologies’, financed by the Italian Ministry for the University (PRIN 2015 no.2015TJ8ZAS).
Plenary lectures will be delivered by the following keynote speakers:
Marina Bondi (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy)
Jan Engberg (Aarhus University, Denmark)
