Title of the project
Identifying optimal irrigation water need using agro hydrological model, remote and proximal sensing
Aims of the project
The aim of PhD thesis is developing a decision support system (DSS) to simulate district-level water use and scheduling over the course of an irrigation season by accounting for the spatial variability of soil hydraulic properties and vegetation cover. The former will be established by monitoring several sites where to carry out direct measurements of hydraulic properties by disk infiltrometer, along with measurements of particle size and particles aggregation data in order to develop a pedo-transfer function specific for the area examined. The pattern of the vegetation data to be used as input in the model will mostly come from analysis of remote sensing images.
