Title of the project

New technologies for the survey and representation of agroforestry land: from land use changes to rural landscape quality assessment

Aims of the project

During the research activity, spatial analysis techniques will be deepened and applied integrating GIS (Geographic Information System) tools to remote sensing in a "free and open source" perspective in order to use them for the representation and characterization of the agro-forestry land. Specifically, the methodologies will be applied to the territorial context of Basilicata Region. As in other marginal inland areas of the Mediterranean, the problems of abandonment of the agricultural land and the fragmentation of habitats are determining important transformations within the rural landscape with negative repercussions both from an ecological, socio-economic and cultural point of view.
