The Slinky was invented in Philadelphia by naval engineer Richard T. James in 1943. James was an engineer working on new naval battleships. The story has it that he knocked a tension spring off of a shelf and as it slid to the ground, James thought to himself this could make a good toy. So he spent two years perfecting his springy invention.

Richard James demonstrated the toy at Gimble's Department Store in November of 1945. The toy was a HUGE hit. His whole inventory of 400 Slinkies sold out in 90 minutes. On average how many Slinkies were sold per minute?
