Morris Michtom and his wife owned a Brooklyn candy shop in Brooklyn, New York. They sold candy by the day and sewed stuffed animals in the evening. Morris saw the political cartoon of President Roosevelt and the bear. He was inspired to create a stuffed animal that he called “Teddy’s Bear.” This cute, charming, cuddly bear was a big hit.
