I've never embroidered before in my life, but one day, I decided I wanted to try it out. It was actually just a whim. I bought some supplies from Michaels-- cloth and embroidery floss/string-- and borrowed my grandma's sewing kit. Then I watched some Youtube videos about embroidery, practiced some different techniques (watching the videos) on an embroidery kit that I was gifted a year ago from my cousins in China, and then made my first project!
I think the most important thing to keep in mind is where the string is coming from on the cloth and where your needle is; everything else is pretty simple. However, the most surprising thing I learned about embroidery is how it takes so much darn time. My first project took four hours, despite how simple I thought it'd be when I designed it!
LO2, LO3: Starting on learning this new skilled required a bit of planning from watching various Youtube videos as research on what I needed to buy (what colors, type of cloth, type of string, and the embroidery frame) as well as finding what embroider techniques I wanted to use on the the first project I designed and created.
