Almost every Saturday, my violin teacher hosts a mini-region recital between his students.
A: The aim of having/attending a mini region recital is for us (students) see how we perform under pressure so that we'll know what to practice and gain experience in performing under pressure.
C: I expressed my creativity by playing the region excerpts with to my interpretation and as best as I could.
T: I've spent months practicing the region cuts. During the summer I spent at least an hour each day practicing these same 5 pieces, but unfortunately, due to schoolwork, I haven't been able to put in the same effort during the school year; even if I really, really, really wanted to, I'm just unable to find myself an hour every day to practice. Thus, the time spent for 'planning' (practicing) my region cuts every week between each 'recital' has been diminishing.
I: I did a lot of self-reflection and preparation in order to steel myself for this region recital.
V: I realized how much I've improved and had more clarity in what to think about when playing in the actual region.
E: I felt very engaged during this experience, even when I wasn't playing myself (which was the majority of the time). This is mainly because nearly everyone else in the room was much better than me, and I wanted to listen to them to hear what could improve my technique and interpretation of the music. (Especially that kid named Ji-an. She's a mechanical monster.)
LO1: This experience provided me with an opportunity to learn what I was missing and what I needed to do to improve my performance at all-region.
