The Computer Science Forum Club has a subforum called Mr Ben's Merch Store, where students are learning and developing from scratch how to build and deploy a merchandise website (students are not earning any money; all proceeds go to the benefit of the CSForum such as snacks and competition signup fees).
The aim of this experience was to revitalize the design of the website, which was in a temporary beta version. I had to communicate with my team members to be able to access the necessary files I had to edit, and later to also gather feedback for further optimization.
But, before I even started, I took some time to investigate and record a list of items that I had to fix or optimize for the consumer's viewing pleasure. I then also researched the elements I needed to change and what I could do to refine their styles.
From this experience, I was able to practice a lot of my web development and artistic skills by having to redesign some parts of the UI (user interface). Throughout the time I spent working on the design, I engaged in a lot of research, studying other website designs, just so I could redesign on my own.
LO2: Before this experience, my only experience in coding was in React frameworks, while the website was previously already built in Tailwind CSS and NextJS. Fortunately, they were very similar to each other, and all I had to learn was the formatting. I learned a lot about these two frameworks, developing my skills as an adaptive computer scientist.
