This year, a particular online group decided to host a week of creation. Like Inktober, for a full week, prompts would be given out to inspire artists of all kinds, and throughout the week, they'd post what they've created so that a relating blog would repost them for exposure. Artists had two months to prepare, but I... slacked off a little during the past month. Still, I had most of my works ready to be published by the time the week started.
A: The aim of the Spooky Week is to have artists with smaller blogs to post their creations at a certain time so that a larger blog could repost them for exposure. I also participated in this challenge so that I could get back into a creative writing headspace, since it's been a long time since I've written fiction for fun.
C: A lot of creativity went into interpreting the prompts and generating unique situations where I could put my characters in that would also relate to the prompt.
T: While I had two months to plan out and write my stories in advance, I most certainly did not make time in my day to actually do so. In fact, my productivity for this project increased exponentially the closer the week came.
I: I began preparing and investigating what I wanted to implement and write about some time before the event began; I am mostly satisfied with my investigation, except for the procrastination part.
V: By participating in this Spooky Week, I was able to practice writing around 15k words in various styles and structures- for example, third person limited, third person omniscient, in past tense, present tense, as if I was writing old lore, or within the mind of a unique character, or poetically, to create a deeper message. I was also able to practice writing dialogue, and I feel like I've gained a deeper understanding of it.
E: I felt very engaged throughout the week because while I was posting my writings, I was also able to view and read the things that the other people participating were also posting.
LO4: Writing part time as an IB student, especially during the past week where there were many writings to be performed, labs to be completed, exams to take, and quizzes to review, and more, was very intensive on not just my schedule but also my sleep. While my smallest work was around 700 words, it also had a much deeper and much more literary devices and metaphors and meanings. My largest work throughout this series was 4k, and while it was not as dense as some other works, it was still very rich in my humble opinion. Not that I will be sharing them. But my point is, despite their differences in size, they all took a lot of time, since density = more time, and more words also mean more time, so there was a lot of time used up for this project that I had to persevere and stay focused through.
LO7: Some of my works for this Spooky Week take place throughout a long period of time, and thus, having to consider cause and effect over lengths of time, on people's mentality, on the growth and development of their minds as they grow up, as well as the impacts of civilization and a little bit of war and conflict and people interacting with each other in positive and negative fashions.
