The TOK Exhibition is an event hosted by the IB students to showcase their knowledge about knowledge and the knower or technology. IB students are required to bring three objects having to do with a question prompt and be able to explain their relationship to the prompt. For the Exhibition, students are also able to bring delicious consumables, and I decided to bring egg tarts.
A: The aim of this experience was to make and bring a large amount of egg tarts enough for the participants of the exhibition as well as the viewers to enjoy.
C: I had to communicate with my mother beforehand about the ingredients I would need, which we do not usually have at home.
T: I began planning for making these egg tarts a month beforehand. I was inspired by my friend who brought egg tarts to church events.
I: For the month before the data of baking the egg tarts, I investigated which recipe I would use, as well as how much of the materials I would need and the amount of people I would need to feed. The week before the exhibition, I did a test trial with friend over the ingredients we had and the recipe. We learned to not put the egg tarts in cupcake pans, as it would make the bottoms soggy.
V: This is one of the first projects I've ever organized all on my own with my own directive. I learned a lot about event planning and was able to practice my planning skills through this activity.
E: I felt very engaged throughout this experiment because I was the sole planner and executioner of this experience, save for my mom, who was very helpful. However, I was the one who did all the planning and cooking, and thus I was able to learn about said skill.
LO3: I planned everything about this experience, from getting the recipe, the amount of ingredients to get, as well as what ingredients to get and from where, enlisting my parents to assist in ingredient acquiring. I also planned for our recipe pre-trial day, to see what would work and what wouldn't, and finally baked all the egg tarts myself.
