(no phone, so have some old photos)
It was sunny, but also a bit breezy, and there were a few wisps of clouds hovering over the brilliant blue sky; the birds tweeted, the trees rustled, and as I strutted into my home, I realized, on a whim, that I wanted to take a walk. I slid off my backpack, and, forget my phone, going outside doesn't need electronics!
I stepped outside into a beautiful, new world. I reveled in the glorious expanse above me, dreamily watching the cute puffs of white in the sky twirl and dance as I placed my two feet onto solid, grassy ground. My fingers were spread loose, and for an infinitesimally long moment, I stood in the breath of the wind. It carried to me the scents of those pretty purple flowers from my neighbor's house, the whispers of a rabbit stealing across the yard, and the specklings of the local fountain, which sprinkled gently on my face.
For a moment, I felt so liberated, I began running!
Paved concrete path melted into a grassy meadow. Dry, winter wheat crunched beneath my feet. And the wind of spirit roared to life. There was so much things to do, yet, at that very second, I had absolutely nothing on my mind. My conscience felt as clear as the sprawling fields and as lucid as the ardent azure sky.
Then when I stopped, I closed my eyes. I stood there on the tender moors and soaked in the sunshine. It was a beautiful day.
LO6: Students, especially those focused on their studies, often forget to take a breather and go outside. Last year, the only times I went outside for a walk was when I biked to Starbucks with friends. This lack of connection to nature can make people sick or depressed. The cycle of not going outside because I was busy fed into itself: sometimes, I thought I was too busy, other times, I was just too tired or sleepy. This year, I haven't been doing much better about going outside despite making a New Years Resolution about it, so I thought of this as a chance to do better. I believe that time for mental health is something that can always be fitted into someone's schedule--- if I can scroll Youtube for twenty minutes, then surely I can repurpose that time to going outside.
