The Generosity of our School Community.
As Christmas approaches, we are acutely aware of the strain on family finances as we try to support Fr Christmas in his work. At school, we try to minimise requests but of course there are pinch points in the year where we ask for your generosity. Along with the Santa Dash donations and the Pantomime cost, we are asking for the following.
Christmas Gifts for Nugent Care
Each year, the cathedral holds an Advent Service with schools attending from across the Archdiocese. Children bring gifts which will be distributed by Nugent Care, the body responsible for Archdiocesan Social Care. We are asking for your generosity in providing unwrapped gifts for boys and girls or for teenagers, unwrapped so that Nugent can sort for specific children and young people in need. Gifts can be donated to school before Thursday 5 December, some of which will be taken by our RE ambassadors to the cathedral for the Schools Advent Service on 5 December. The others will be taken directly to Nugent.
St Joseph’s Family Centre Food Bank
As always, our monthly donations of food to the food bank make such a difference to people in our area. Friday 6 December will be the first Friday of the month so please give generously.
Cafod and Silly Socks
Another request we are making of you in January is to donate £1 for the work of Cafod. In exchange, the children can wear silly socks to school on Friday 17 January. Cafod do great work on our behalf in supporting sustainable projects across the developing world. Please see the website for examples of their work: https://cafod.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do
Again, thank you for your continued generosity. In the words of Micah (6:8), ‘This is what the Lord asks of you: to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.’
Santa Dash
On Friday 6thDecember the children will be participating in our 2024 Santa Dash. Children are invited to come to school in their own clothes, Christmas themed if they so wish, where they will run around the playground (with Santa) to music and there may even be a little snow that day too! If you can, please share our Just Giving page where the children can be sponsored for the event, all proceeds go to the PFA, providing much needed funding for the school which benefits all the children. Any amount is greatly appreciated, and we know this is one the children’s favourite events of the year. (All the details are in the poster attached) Thank you, Your PFA
Christingle
Calling all Angels, Kings and Shepherds living in the Parish and Great Sankey area to come to our annual Christingle Service on Wednesday, 11 December at 6.30pm in St Joseph's Church. Donkeys, sheep and any other animals are also welcome. Christingle kits are now available from school at £1 each. All proceeds from the sale of these kits will be sent to St Joseph's Family Centre.
Extension of discount code
If you haven’t already placed your orders with My Childs Art, you can still receive 10% off all orders as the discount code StJosephs3X24 has been extended so it will now expire on 03/12 at 11:59 pm.
Thank you for your support.

Contacting Teachers
Please be reminded that if you need to speak with your child’s teacher you can email them via the office (stjosephs_primary@sch.warrington.gov.uk ). Please do not use their personal emails. Alternatively, parents can speak with Miss Cleary or Mrs Leighton in the office. We would ask that parents refrain from catching the teacher as they bring the children off the playground at the start of the day. Short conversations can soon become longer which hold up the whole class and therefore learning.
Information for parents is transmitted via the newsletter, texting through ParentApps, by telephone and sometimes by letter. Several WhatsApp groups exist but these are between parents and are unofficial. Please be aware of this when discussing or asking about issues or events. Likewise, please be kind on social media platforms.
Parent View
Please support us in completing the 10-minute Parent view questionnaire. It helps us review our practice. Presently, there are only a handful of replies which cannot give us useful information.

Late pick up after School
Please be reminded that school finishes at 3:15pm each day. Children cannot be left to wait while their siblings are at after-school clubs. Staff are unable to supervise children who are picked up late except in emergencies. Thank you for your understanding.
放学后迟接 请注意,学校每天下午 3:15 放学。当孩子们的兄弟姐妹在课外俱乐部时,不能让孩子们等待。 除紧急情况外,工作人员无法监管迟到的儿童。 感谢您的理解。
No Parking
Stopping outside school
At drop off and collection, please do not park in front of our neighbours’ driveways. It is inconsiderate and a hazard.
Thanks you for your support.
在上落車時,請唔好將車停喺我哋隔籬嘅車道前。 係唔體貼嘅,都係危險嘅。
感謝您的支持。
Food allergies
Please be reminded that some of our children suffer with severe allergic reactions to peanuts, nuts, lentils and peas. If an anaphylactic reaction occurs we are trained to immediately use Jext pens of Epipens and call 999.
Please do not use Nivea suncream as it has almond oil in it and we have children with severe nut allergies.
Please do not send any items containing the above into school for your child’s lunch or snack. This includes spreads like Nutella as it has hazelnut as an ingredient.
Thank you for your support, as always.
