Rail Safe Friendly Initiative
Simon Frazer, Principal at Guilsborough Academy said: “The tragic death of Harrison in 2017, when he was in Year 7 at Guilsborough, brought home to our community the importance of teaching our children about safety on the Railways. Schools play a vital role in keeping our children safe. We will never forget Harrison and including rail safety in our curriculum will help to save lives in the future.”
Please watch this 15-minute safety video. Remember 15 minutes can help save lives and provide important safety information to young people.

New Intake Meeting
Meeting on 11 September in school at 6pm
Jubilee
In ancient Hebrew practice, a jubilee year – occurring after every seventh Sabbath year, thus, every 50 years – was an economic, cultural, environmental and communal reset, when the land and people rested, and all those who were in slavery were set free to return to their communities. The Church continued with this custom but in a spiritual way whereby we refocus our minds, hearts and actions towards living in God’s way.
The Holy Father has decided that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee, something which happens every 25 years in the Church. The theme is “Pilgrims of Hope”, and it will be a year of hope for a world suffering the impacts of war, the ongoing effects of COVID-19 pandemic, and a climate crisis. Preparations for the 2025 Year of Jubilee began in Advent 2023, which marked the start of a year of prayer. In parishes and schools across England and Wales, people have gathered, young and old, to pray for the Year of Hope.
One important gathering will take place on Saturday 14 September in Birmingham, where representatives from every diocese in England and Wales will join in prayer and reflection before the Lord in the Eucharist. The following week, 21 September, all are invited to join the Adoremus Liverpool events taking place in the Metropolitan Cathedral. Please see the link for the timetable: https://liverpoolmetrocathedral.org.uk/events/event/adoremus-liverpool-2024/
For us in school, we will enter into the Year of Hope as pilgrims in a way suitable for us. We journey together as pilgrims in hope searching for the Truth, just as the magi did two millennia ago.
The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen
