Please do not use the staff car park before and immediately after school. Staff need access at all times and using the car park may be a hazard to other users. This includes just dropping off children. Children should not be crossing the car park but using the designated pathways. Thank you!
Please be reminded, children do not need their mobiles in school if they are not being collected by an adult at the end of the day. If your child is walking home alone and you wish for them to have their mobile phone, it must be switched off and handed in to their teacher at the start of the day. When collected later, it must not be switched on until your child leaves the school premises. It is not to be used to share photographs, videos, etc. not to play on apps.
Thank you for your support.
Attendance in School
The overall school attendance figure for St Joseph’s is 95.78% with Warrington being at 97%. This is really good and I would like to commend our families for this.
At this time of year, more of us are prone to sickness and, of course, when we are ill we should remain off work or school. However, for our children we do need to ask ourselves whether they are ill or just under the weather. Missing school has serious consequences as it does affect a child’s learning. It isn’t simply a matter of catching up the next day as they have missed specific learning that is built on daily.
Poor attendance is defined as anything below 90% and the Department for Education expects a minimum attendance rate of 96%.
If a child’s attendance falls below 95%, flags are raised at local authority level and a conversation may need to take place with parents. If your child’s attendance has dropped, please do your very best to address the situation.
