Please do not use the staff car park before and immediately after school. Staff need access at all times and using the car park may be a hazard to other users. This includes just dropping off children. Children should not be crossing the car park but using the designated pathways. Thank you!
If you’re looking for a new year’s resolution that’ll do you good, then think about listening to the Podcast, The Bible in a Year, led by the American University of Minnesota Chaplain, Fr Mike Schmitz. It is said that Catholics don’t know the bible but if you want to know a bit more and see where the Church grounds its world-view, then consider this daily podcast to further your understanding.
I’m on my second time through. My first go at it actually took me about 18 months! Missing days is not the issue, nor starting late; it’s about choosing to persevere.
My journey through the Scriptures in this way has really helped me deepen my understanding of God’s action in history and in my life.
Attendance in School
The overall school attendance figure for St Joseph’s is 95.78% with Warrington being at 97%. This is really good and I would like to commend our families for this.
At this time of year, more of us are prone to sickness and, of course, when we are ill we should remain off work or school. However, for our children we do need to ask ourselves whether they are ill or just under the weather. Missing school has serious consequences as it does affect a child’s learning. It isn’t simply a matter of catching up the next day as they have missed specific learning that is built on daily.
Poor attendance is defined as anything below 90% and the Department for Education expects a minimum attendance rate of 96%.
If a child’s attendance falls below 95%, flags are raised at local authority level and a conversation may need to take place with parents. If your child’s attendance has dropped, please do your very best to address the situation.

St Joseph’s Family Centre Food Bank
Thank you so much for your generosity with our monthly food bank donations to St Joseph’s family Centre. This week, Mr Saunders took two Year 5 girls to the Centre to help him with the many bags of food. A great example of Catholic Social Teaching!
