Ash Wednesday falls during half term this year, on St Valentine’s day. It marks the beginning of the Lenten season where we reassess our lives in the love of Jesus. I would encourage all to receive the ashes in church as a sign of our focusing not on ourselves but on the Lord. When we recognise sin in our lives we can despair or feel that we can do nothing about it, but what we are invited to do is turn to Him who is mercy. This is called metanoia, a turning around to look at Him and to choose a new way, even if at times we continue to fall into sin.
When we return to school on Monday 19 February, Mrs Daly will lead a liturgy for the children and staff and everyone will be invited to receive the ashes.
As you know, part of our Monday morning assembly is celebrating children’s achievements outside school. They may share their success in football, swimming, brownies, etc. with trophies, badges and certificates. We have decided to move this assembly to Wednesdays after half term to fit in with other school needs.
On Thursday 22 February, the uniform groups celebrate the founding of the scout movement by Robert Baden-Powell. On this day we invite our Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, etc. to wear their uniform that day in school.
Following the National Child Measurement Programme visit this week, the team have asked us to share the links below for further advice/guidance/support to encourage healthy family lifestyles, and also information about the Healthier Families Warrington Programme.

Thank you to all for your continuing generosity towards St Joseph's Family Centre's food bank. Times are tough for many people, our families included, so to share what we have with others is a great thing and a way in which we can live out our calling as Christ's followers.
Well done to our Year 6 netball team for coming first in the Great Sankey tournament on Wednesday. They are now through to the finals in March!
We are becoming increasingly worried about the staff car park as a potential hazard to children and adults. It is not to be used by parents to drop off or collect children. Children are to enter the school premises via the pathways and gates. They are not to walk across the car park itself. Children joining Kool Kids must walk up the side pathway and enter through the playground gates. The car park gates will be closed to prevent the access of parents’ cars.
Please be reminded cars cannot stop to drop off children on the zig-zag lines outside the school gates. Neither should we park or stop across people's driveways.
It is illegal and also inconsiderate. One of our neighbours last week was delayed leaving home for an important hospital appointment. Also, a car was stopped on the corner of Larch Avenue, which is extremely hazardous for other road users and pedestrians.
Thank for your support.
