General Directions:
New faculty appointment applications should be submitted no later than the published deadline dates for the scheduled Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (APT) Committee meetings and early enough to allow completion of the appointment prior to the intended start date.
Each packet should include all required forms when submitted. Please contact Andy Griesenauer (andy.griesenauer@health.slu.edu ; 977-8438) if this might cause a critical delay in completing the appointment prior to the intended start date.
Process:
Department to send electronic New Hire Faculty Packet (see below) to the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (OFAPD) (andy.griesenauer@health.slu.edu)
After that month's deadline, the OFAPD prepares and sends the Recommendation for Faculty Appointment form, CV, and three letters of evaluation to Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee for review at their monthly meeting
After the Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee reviews/recommends the new faculty hire, the SOM Dean reviews.
After the SOM Dean reviews/recommends the new faculty hire, the OFAPD completes the contract via Workday and sends to HR for final approval.
Tenure Track and Tenured hires must be approved by the Provost first. OFAPD will send notification to his or her office to approve the request.
Contract is sent via Workday to new hire for signature.

To facilitate review by the Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee, it is requested that the CV conform to the School of Medicine approved format. Also, please delete any personal information.
In the case of an individual being appointed on the tenure track immediately following completion of a fellowship, an exemption for the type of letter required may be requested
