General Directions:
The process and paperwork is the same as that for a new faculty appointment.
For SLU employed faculty, ensure that the tenure track position has been approved by the SOM Position Review Committee (PRC)
New faculty appointment applications should be submitted no later than the published deadline dates for the scheduled Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (APT) Committee meetings and early enough to allow completion of the appointment prior to the intended start date.
Each packet should include all required forms when submitted. Please contact Andy Griesenauer (andy.griesenauer@health.slu.edu) if this might cause a critical delay in completing the appointment prior to the intended start date.
Process:
Department/Business Manager sends electronic New Hire Faculty Packet (see below) to the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (OFAPD) (andy.griesenauer@health.slu.edu) at least 2 months prior to proposed tenure track effective date
After that month's deadline, the OFAPD prepares and sends the Recommendation for Faculty Appointment form, CV, and three letters of evaluation to Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee for review at their monthly meeting. The Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee reviews/recommends the new faculty hire.
Via the OFAPD, the SOM Dean reviews/recommends the track change.
Via the OFAPD, the Provost approves/does not approve the track change.
OFAPD updates academic appointment in Workday.
Contract is generated by the OFAPD and sent to new hire for signature.
Contract is sent via Workday for SLU employed faculty
Contract is sent via email for SLUCare faculty
The OFAPD saves New Faculty Hire Packet and signed appointment letter/contract in faculty member's file
