If offering the rank of Associate Professor or Professor or Tenure-track/Tenure status, the department chair should reach out to the SOM Dean to confirm the new hire before moving to offer in Workday.
The department administrator sends the electronic New Faculty Hire Packet (see below) to andy.griesenauer@health.slu.edu at least 2 months prior to start date
The OFAPD will monitor Faculty Tracker to ensure New Hire Faculty Packets are being sent in a timely manner. If the New Faculty Hire Packet has not been received by the OFAPD at least one month prior to the start date, the OFAPD will reach out to department administrator to request it.
Once the New Faculty Hire Packet is received, the OFAPD will reach out to the individuals listed under the Letters of Recommendation (if applicable)
Once the Letters of Recommendation are received (if applicable), the OFAPD prepares and sends the Recommendation for Faculty Appointment form, CV, and three letters of evaluation (when required) to the Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure Committee for review at their monthly meeting. The Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee reviews the requested faculty rank and track and makes a recommendation to the School of Medicine Dean.
The SOM Dean reviews the requested faculty rank and track.
For Non Tenure Track appointments, the SOM Dean has final approval on rank and track.
For Tenure Track/Tenured appointments, the SOM Dean will make a recommendation to the University Provost who has final approval on rank and track.
The OFAPD will forward the Dean's recommendation to the University's Office of Faculty Affairs.
Once the Provost makes a decision, the University's Office of Faculty Affairs will notify the OFAPD.
If the rank and track are approved, the process moves to Step 6
If the rank and track are not approved, the OFAPD notifies the department chair and administrator and the process moves to Step 6
The Department Chair is responsible for notifying the faculty member about the approved track and rank.

Contract is generated and sent via Workday, by the OFAPD, to new hire for signature.

Department reaches out to Christine Rogers in the Provost's Office of Faculty Affairs to ensure faculty is coded in Banner system as faculty instructor
