From Guidelines for the Selection and Review of Endowed Chairs and Named Professors
It is the Dean's responsibility to recommend to the Provost whether or not the endowed chair’s or named professor’s appointment should be renewed, whenever possible by April 1 of the penultimate year of the individual’s appointment, with a copy to the Vice President for Development and University Relations when the position is endowed. Contributors to the review process should include: the Department Chairperson (if not an endowed chair), the Dean, and the Graduate Dean (if applicable).
Process:
In the second week of January of each year, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (OFAPD) will select all endowed chairs/named professorships that are in their penultimate (second to last) year.
The OFAPD will electronically submit to each of these individuals the following (copying their department chair), asking them to be returned in a single PDF in the following order:

Summary of Scholarly Activity template
The Department Chair's Evaluation of Endowed Chair/Named Professor will be requested from the Department; no template is provided
OFAPD receives all annual reports and places them in the t-drive for SOM Dean review
SOM Dean makes renewal recommendations and the OFPAD writes letters and sends to the Provost's office on the Dean's behalf
