Notes:
Refer to the University's Faculty Manual for complete information regarding the non renewal of a faculty appointment.
Notice of nonrenewal, or of intention not to recommend renewal, should be given in writing in accordance with the following standards:
Not later than March 1 of the first academic year of service, if the appointment expires at the end of that year; or, if a one-year appointment terminates during an academic year, at least three months in advance of its termination.
Not later than December 15 of the second academic year of service, if the appointment expires at the end of that year; or, if an initial two-year appointment terminates during an academic year, at least six months in advance of its termination.
At least twelve months before the expiration of an appointment after two or more years at the institution.

Department Chair reaches out to Dr. Jane McHowat, Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development (jane.mchowat@health.slu.edu)
Dr. Jane McHowat works with the University's General Counsel's Office to write letter of non renewal.
Dr. Jane McHowat and the Office of Faculty Affairs obtains the SOM Dean's and Provosot's signatures on the letter of non renewal.
The letter of non renewal is electronically provided to the Department Chair.
The Department Chair is responsible for providing the letter of non renewal to the faculty member.
