Notes:
Leaves of absence without pay for up to one calendar year at a time may be granted to a full-time faculty member whenever such leaves will clearly add to the teaching effectiveness, research productivity, or professional status of the faculty member. They may also be granted for political activity or public service according to Sec. III.H.10 of the Faculty Manul, or for family matters demanding the attention of the faculty member.
Process:
The faculty member will submit a request for a leave of absence to their department chair.
The department chair will forward their letter of support and the faculty member's letter to the OFAPD (andy.griesenauer@health.slu.edu)
The OFAPD will forward to the Dean of the School of Medicine for review.
The Dean's recommendation and preceeding paperwork will be forwarded to the Provost for a final decision.
The Provost's final decision will be electronically sent to the faculty member, department chair, and the OFAPD.
