Dear Parents,
On Tuesday, our St Joachim’s Girls A Basketball Team were runners-up at the Northern Peninsula Division Basketball Play-Offs held at the Somerville Recreation Centre. It was a fabulous effort, marked by excellent sportsmanship and the girls had a wonderful time representing our school.
Next Tuesday, October 21, we will be hosting our 2026 Foundation Information Night. We look forward to welcoming our future Prep families, both new and returning. On the night, we will be answering the most popular question: Who are the 2026 Foundation teachers?
On Wednesday, October 22, our Senior students will head to John Paul College to compete in inter-school sports. We have teams participating in netball, soccer, football and Volley Stars. It is always a highlight of the year. A big thank you in advance to Mr Haines for his hard work in organising the day.
Ms Andrew and our Mini Vinnies team are leading the way as we prepare for our annual Mini Vinnies Fete on Tuesday, October 28. We hope all families are able to join us and support this wonderful community event.
From next week, students are to wear their summer uniform, which includes their school hat. A reminder that runners are only to be worn with the sports uniform. With the summer school uniform, students must wear black shoes.

As part of our Mini Vinnie Fete we are going to have a recycled school uniform stall. Parents are invited to drop off any unwanted St Joachim school uniform clothing (in good condition) to the office during the coming week. We will need all donated school uniform to be sent to the school for sorting prior to Friday October 24.
Each piece will sell for one ticket. This is a great way to unload clothing that is no longer needed and help each other as a community.
It has been an absolute joy to witness so many children choosing to come during the first half of recess to pray a decade of the Rosary together. Their quiet reverence and willingness to participate have been truly heartwarming.
This daily prayer, though simple in structure, is a profound and powerful way for our students to deepen their faith. It offers them a quiet moment of reflection and connection, allowing them to experience the comforting and guiding presence of Mary in their daily lives. Moments like these remind us of the beauty and strength of communal prayer within our school community.
(29th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME )
This Sunday, we celebrate World Mission Sunday, a special day when the Church reminds us that we are all called to share God’s love with the world. In the Gospel, Jesus tells a story about a widow who never gave up asking a judge for help. She kept going, and we learned from her that we should always keep praying, do what is right, persevere and never give up hope.
Today, we remember that there are children and families everywhere who need love, hope, and care. Even though we may be small, we can make a difference.
Jesus teaches us to keep going, to keep helping, and to keep praying, just like the widow in the Gospel. When we share what we have, show kindness, or pray for others, we are helping God’s love reach the people who need it most.
Let us remember that being part of God’s mission is about living with compassion, courage, and hope every day.
Sofia:
Reflection 1 – Keep Praying
Jesus tells us to always pray and never give up, just like the widow in the Gospel. We can pray for people all around the world and for those who need God’s help.
Charlotte Wilson:
Reflection 2 – Be Brave and Persistent
The widow showed courage by not giving up. We can also be brave when we try to do what is right, even if it is hard.
Constance:
Reflection 3 – Help Others
World Mission Sunday reminds us that we can share God’s love. We can help others by being kind, caring, and looking after people in our families, school, and community.
Malibu:
Reflection 4 – Spread God’s Love
God wants us to bring hope and happiness to others. Even small actions, like smiling, listening, or helping someone, can show God’s love to the world.
Will - To be a Light of Christ
To help us understand World Mission Sunday better, we thought about a candle. A candle has a flame that gives light, and that light can shine in many places. Each of us is like a little candle. When we pray, help others, or show kindness, our light shines and helps others see God’s love.
Just like many small candles together can light up a whole room, when we all share God’s love, we can make a big difference in the world.

The students in Year two have “turtley” enjoyed creating a woven turtle using the skill of repetition to create the shell of their turtle and don’t they look fantastic. Well done on all your time, patience and effort creating these masterpieces you should be very proud of yourselves.
