Dear Parents,
Congratulations to all members of our Athletics team who competed at Ballam Park on Wednesday this week. All students gave their best effort in their events and we are so proud of them. Well done to our students who placed first and second in their respective events. Good luck for your events at the Divisional competition early next term. (See photo and item further on in this newsletter).
What a fantastic Fathers’ Day breakfast we had this morning! It was great to see a large number of our wonderful dads joining their children for a delicious hot breakfast, coffee and a family photo. Our prayers and blessing of dads, granddads and other father figures, along with students singing, and the raffle draw, were also highlights. Thank you so much to our Parents and Friends group, led by Lauren Wilson and Sarah Cruise, and ably assisted by a number of mums, for their organization, decorations, cooking, serving and packing up. Thank you also to Genevieve for taking our family photos. The generosity and hard work of our Parents and Friends is greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Fr. Martin, St. Anne’s parish, parents and teachers who prepared and supported our students who received their First Eucharist during the month of August.
Next week we have our Book Fair at school. This event promotes reading for enjoyment and learning to our students, and provides an opportunity for families to purchase a variety of books to enjoy together. The Book Fair sales are available from 2:45 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. from Monday to Wednesday next week.
Congratulations to Leonel (SWD) who participated in the Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod for Piano recently. Leonel competed in two categories and achieved outstanding results: Highly Commended in the Grade 5 AMEB Piano section and second Place in the Under 11s Piano section. Leonel has also qualified to compete in the Australian State Instrumental Championships. Well done Leonel!
Thank you to the families who have recently completed the MACSSIS surveys. I strongly encourage all families to take 30 minutes to complete the survey if you haven’t yet done so. Your feedback is valued and makes an important contribution to our ongoing school improvement plans. With thanks.

In today’s liturgy we are called to be followers of Jesus. We are taught to love one another and be forgiving and kind.
Our liturgy theme focused on what it means to follow Jesus. As a class, we reflected on how respecting and caring for the special people in our lives is one way we can live like Jesus.
This Sunday, we celebrate Father’s Day, a time to honour the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and families — both big and small.
We give thanks for all the grandfathers, uncles, brothers, cousins, teachers, coaches, and other special men who care for us, guide us, and show us love. Their actions remind us of Jesus’ call to serve others with kindness and generosity.
Loving God,
Let us pray for our families, our schools and our faith community, that they be strengthened to support all who belong to them. Lord hear us.
Loving Father,
Bless all fathers and father figures in our community. May they continue to love and nurture children and cherish their precious gift of fathering. May they offer friendship, support and encouragement to each other. Lord, hear us.
Dear God,
For the courage to make a deeper commitment to follow Jesus even when it is difficult for us. Lord hear us.
Dear God,
Shower your blessing and protection upon us and those for whom we pray. Lord hear us.
Loving God,
We pray for all those who suffer. We also remember their family and friends and we ask God to give them strength and comfort at this time of need. Lord hear us.
On Friday, 6th September, St. Joachim’s was filled with joy as we came together for our annual Father’s Day Breakfast, beautifully organised by our dedicated Parents and Friends group.
The morning began with a beautiful Paraliturgy led by our students, honouring and giving thanks for the love and support of our dads and father figures. It was a special way to reflect on the important role they play in our lives.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Parents and Friends group for their tireless efforts in making this event such a meaningful and memorable occasion for our school community.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, our special guests were invited into classrooms to share in their children’s learning journey—an experience that was warmly welcomed by students and parents alike.
On behalf of the staff, students, and the entire St. Joachim’s community, we wish all dads a very happy Father’s Day. May God bless you and your families, and may your day be filled with love, joy, and appreciation.
We praise you for the gift of our fathers
And those who have been father-figures to us.
We thank you for the life and love they
Have brought to our world.
May they be strengthened in virtue and faith so that
They might give glory to you through lives of service.
Amen
This beautiful piece, titled "Pilgrims of Hope," captures the spirit of the Jubilee by showcasing the hopes and dreams of each individual in our school community. Every student contributed a unique element, reflecting their personal journey, faith, and aspirations for the future.
We are incredibly proud of the creativity, thoughtfulness, and collaboration that went into this project.
Be sure to view this special artwork (next to the chapel) and celebrate our journey as Pilgrims of Hope.
Heartfelt congratulations to Chelsea as she takes this significant step in her faith journey, embracing a deeper connection with the Church through the sacred Sacrament of First Eucharist.
May this special occasion mark the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Jesus in the Eucharist, and may His abiding presence continue to guide, strengthen, and nourish her on her spiritual path.
Dear Lord, we thank You and praise You for the most precious gift of the Holy Eucharist. We ask You to bless all those who are preparing to receive Your Body and Blood for the first time.
You have provided for us richly through the gift of Your Body and Blood. Receiving the Holy Eucharist is a tremendous blessing, and we ask You to help all who are preparing to make their First Holy Communion. Help them to grow in love for You each day of our lives. Help them to always appreciate the great gifts You have given us for our salvation.
Lord, hear our prayer, especially for Chelsea. Amen.
